Man City and Leicester City make agreement "in-principle" to sign Kelechi Iheanacho

Leicester City has been reported to have agreed a deal 'in principle' with Manchester City to sign Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigerian striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Premier League clubs such as Swansea and West Ham also said to be interested in a move for Iheanacho.

But now it seems that the striker has taken a step forward in his City departure, with the Citizens agreeing on a fee with the Foxes for the 20-year-old, according to Sky sources.

The forward scored four goals and registered three assists in the Premier League last season -despite only starting five games (he made 15 appearances from the bench), and Pep Guardiola has made it clear to him that Iheanacho has no future with the club.

Having to compete with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus was always going to be difficult, especially with a forward yet to fully establish himself as a player.

Iheanacho burst onto the scene in the 2015/16 season, scoring eight goals in his debut season at the Etihad under Manuel Pellegrini.

Sky Sports claim that the fee could rise to an astonishing £25m, and that there are "one or two significant contractual issues to address" - one of which being a buy-back clause that City want to insert into the deal, and another being down to the player; Iheanacho has an issue regarding image rights which he has to conclude before signing any new contract with a club.

An imminent announcement is highly unlikely, but the deal in principle shows that the correct steps are being made in signing the forward.
